My nephew is turning one! 🥳

Oh, how I loved making this cake. I don’t think I’ve ever spent quite this much time on a design before — but wow, was it fun. There’s something truly special about starting with an idea in your head and then watching it slowly evolve into the final creation. The end result doesn’t always match the original vision — and honestly, I don’t think it has to. An idea is simply a starting point, a guideline to help you navigate along the way.

People often ask how long my cakes take to make — and the answer is usually longer than expected. From the outside, it’s easy to see “just a cake.” But behind the scenes, almost everything is handmade from scratch. Every single flower on this cake was created individually, and each one has its own carefully colour-matched sprinkle placed at the centre. The heart-shaped decoration was assembled piece by piece. This isn’t an hour’s work — it’s the equivalent of up to almost three full workdays 💛

With every creation, my goal is for the cake to be just as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the taste buds. It has to taste as good as it looks. That’s my recipe for success — and I like to believe that’s why people come back for their next celebration. At least, I hope so.

Now, I doubt my nephew gives a sh*t about the cake, to be honest 😅 — but hopefully his parents feel happy and confident in their choice to let me create his very special first birthday cake.
